GEOxyz Opens First African Branch in Namibia

Namibia's central location, robust business environment, and growing demand for onshore and offshore infrastructure survey services made it the ideal location for GEOxyz's regional headquarters

GEOxyz, a global leader in data services, has announced the opening of its first African branch in Walvis Bay, Namibia. This strategic move marks a significant milestone in the company’s international expansion, solidifying its commitment to serving the Southern African market with high-quality, locally adapted solutions.

Why Namibia?

Namibia’s central location, robust business environment, and growing demand for onshore and offshore infrastructure survey services made it the ideal location for GEOxyz’s regional headquarters. This base will enable efficient project support across Southern Africa.

Leading the Namibian office is Jacques Vancayseele, a seasoned industry expert with over seven years of experience at GEOxyz and strong ties to both South Africa and Namibia. His leadership will bridge GEOxyz’s European heritage with its ambitious African expansion. Vancayseele expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “This region holds immense potential, and our dedicated local presence allows us to deliver tailored solutions that meet client needs while contributing to local growth and development.”

Working Together

The new office, will initially operate collaboratively with GEOxyz’s European teams, with a long-term vision of becoming a fully independent, locally-led operation. GEOxyz is committed to hiring local talent, fostering partnerships with regional institutions, and investing in knowledge transfer to leverage its global expertise for the benefit of the Namibian team. This commitment, extends to ongoing collaboration with local schools to cultivate the next generation of marine data specialists and surveyors.

What Services Will They Offer?

GEOxyz will offer a comprehensive suite of data services from its Namibian base, including offshore hydrographic and geophysical surveys, and onshore services such as infrastructure mapping for railroads and land development.

Patrick Reyntjens, CEO of GEOxyz, emphasized the strategic importance of the Namibian office, stating, “This is a natural step in our global expansion. Jacques’s experience and local connections ensure we can grow purposefully, combining international standards with a deep understanding of the Southern African context.”

While Namibia represents GEOxyz’s initial foray into Africa, the company’s global expansion strategy will continue, with planned future expansions into West Africa, Asia, and South America.
